Thomas & See Eun's Winter Wonderland
I have always wanted to do a snow photoshoot. This winter I accomplished that dream! Thanks to my dear friend See Eun and her new fiance Thomas, they jumped on that idea immediately after I suggested it. They were thinking the same exact thing! See Eun event went to great lengths to find a red dress! We ventured towards Mt.Hood to find the best place to take some photos. It was a spot right off of Highway 26 off of Road 30. It was dreamy, magical and everything I had pictured. And just like I imagined, the images turned out amazing thanks to this beautiful couple! Excited for these two to tie the knot this upcoming summer!
adidas #WHYIRUNPORTLAND Campaign
Last week I had the opportunity to team up with adidas Running this time around and do a shoot of some of their running shoes & gear for their campaign called #WHYIRUNPORTLAND. It was a quick turnover and yesterday I was able to see my photos on their Facebook page and Twitter accounts. Today, they went to multiple spots all around Portland and passed out free gear and shoes to runners who were able to brave the cold starting at Mt. Tabor in SE Portland. The campaign was such a success that they ran out of shoes before their projected end time and had to cancel their last stops. A cool idea that I hope continues this year. Hope to partner with adidas again in 2017!
Simon + Kristyn Brown - 4/16/16
Simon and Kristyn were married at the Victorian Belle in Portland, Oregon on April 16, 2017. They were such a great couple to work with. You could sense their excitement to get married and you could tell their friends and families were so excited as well! Both were transplants to Portland so their entire wedding party and guests came from out of town. Most from the south which added a fun Southern flair to their wedding day.
Kyle Anniversary Photoshoot
A end the year by doing a photoshoot with this couple celebrating their 3rd wedding Anniversary. They were troopers despite the low temperatures.
New Packaging
With the new branding comes new packaging. I'm excited to show off my new packaging for weddings this year! Thanks to Photo Flash Drive for making these beautiful engraved boxes and thumb drives. I can't wait for my first client to receive them!
Little Bruin
This little family added a new member this December. Bruin Scott Willms made his entrance into the world on December 14th and asked to take newborn photos of the little guy. He was so calm the entire time, made my job easy. Loved seeing Ashley and Kirk transition into parenthood. They're already naturals and you can tell Bruin is so loved already. I can't wait to watch this little guy grow up!
The Thalhofer Family
Kelsey O'Halloran of NW Creatives asked if I could be the photographer for their family photos this year as a special gift to her family for Christmas. I couldn't be more honored to be their photographer. Kelsey and her husband Caleb have been good friends of Drew and I and have been also a huge support of my photography business. We met at Foothills City Park in Lake Oswego on a Saturday morning. The weather was absolutely freezing which made this shoot a quick one. We had a great time and they made the most out of this chilly weather.
The Moshofsky Family
This family shoot was one of my favorites this year. Taking place on their friend's estate, this was the perfect setting for these two. Matt and Thea wanted the perfect photo for their Christmas card. They picked the perfect setting to make that happen. With their dog Henna in tow, the clouds rolled in for the perfect lighting. This was my second shoot with these two and I must say, each year gets better!
The Zweber Family
A dear friend Kelly Zweber has been in need of new head shots for her Real Estate company - Berkshire Hathaway Real Estate. After years of talking about it, we finally made it happen! She did my head shots and I did hers. We couldn't have picked a more beautiful Portland day. (Although you can't tell by the photos, but it was freezing out). I think we got some great shots out of the bunch and we ended the shoot with a handful of family shots of her and her husband Zach and their golden doodle Stella. The photo with Stella at the wreath ended up being my most popular photo on instagram. This family knows how to make the most of photoshoot!
The Kelsay Family
This year I was able to photograph my sister and her cute family. They have a new addition to their family this year so it was extra fun to see how he was going to do during our session. He nailed it out of the park! Cutest little guy.
Ashley's Camping/Outdoor-Themed Baby Shower
My season of life right now involves babies, and lots of them. Amongst all my family and friends, things have moved from bridal showers, bachelorette parties and weddings to baby showers, baby parties, and birthday parties. I can't complain because I'm loving the change of pace. I have been able to be apart of a handful of baby showers this year and this one was my latest one that I was able to throw for my good friend Ashley Willms in Eugene, Oregon. Her and her husband Kirk are expecting their first this December and will be having a boy. She picked the perfect theme for her nursery - Outdoor/Camping. Thankfully it's very popular right now and we didn't have a hard time finding decor. This party wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't for my other good friend Christi Harris to help co-lead this shower. She has the best eye for things like this and I was so grateful to work alongside her. We were able to use University Fellowship Church's fellowship hall for the venue which ended up being perfect with it's barn-like feel. Decor came everywhere from friends, family, and places like Target and Hobby Lobby. We did a dessert bar for food which included fall favorites like donuts, apple crisp and pumpkin pie along with an apple dipping station and s'more mix. Cake was made by Christi herself and the favors were pulled together by Christi and our husbands and tags were written by yours truly. The party was a hit and Ashley loved it. What a fun way to celebrate their soon-to-arrive baby boy Bruin!

adidas Football - Military Appreciation Product Photography
Over the past year, I've had the chance to partner with adidas Women's and create some custom calligraphy artwork for their Facebook page.
This past month I was given the opportunity to photograph some of the 2016 adidas Football cleats and sneakers. Paying tribute to the U.S. Navy SEALs, the cleats were inspired by the footwear and accessories worn by the elite forces of the U.S. military. The images I captured were used on the adidas Football social channels and in their corporate press release.
Although it was my first time capturing product photography, I had a great time and the images turned out great! Make sure you check out the photos below and learn more about the cleats HERE, or check out the adidas Football Twitter and Instagram page to see my work.
The Reeves Family
This photoshoot was thrown together last minute and it couldn't have been any more perfect. Ali really wanted a "woodsy" backdrop but the rain was coming any minute. Randomly Ali thought their backyard might work. Sure enough, it was exactly what she wanted! Their daughter Joey just turned 2 and she wanted to make sure she had some photographs of her during this time before baby number 2 arrives. This family was so adorable and after Joey couldn't stop talking about her lollipop, her parents finally caved in. Thanks again Rick and Ali for letting me photography your sweet family!
The Gilchrist Family
After going back and forth on dates for family photos, we picked a day and decided rain or shine, we were going to go through with it. There was a break in the ran an hour before the time of their shoot and right as I jumped into my car to head over to meet the Gilchrist Family, the rain started up again. Despite a rough time for one of the kiddos to get ready, it didn't stop the picture perfect fall family photos.
The Dangaran Family
It was a chilly November morning, but that didn't stop the Dangaran Family from taking family photos. Sarah thought it would be a great idea to round up her in-laws to take some family photos since a new son/grandson/nephew entered the family in June. The rain held off at the perfect timing and hanging out with the Dangarans was the best time. They made my job incredibly easy. They're a joy to be around and such a beautiful family.
The Waldo Family
Last September, Ben and Jessica were expecting their first child and I was able to photograph their maternity photos and their newborn photos. Fast forward a year and Bode is now a year old and the cutest little guy you could meet. They of course wanted to get some one-year photos in along with family photos while fall was in full swing. And we lucked out with the rain! We photographed at McMenamins Edgefield which ended up being the perfect spot for this family. They brought along a Radio-Flyer wagon that was actually Ben's when he was a kid. It was the perfect prop for little Bode.
A Family Photoshoot Surprise
About a couple months before their photoshoot, the Jim Family contacted me for family photos. The Jim Family are basically family to me since I've known them my whole life, so of course I said yes in a heartbeat. As the day got closer, I was in contact with the mom on details. A little curious, I was wondering if something else was going on that day. I bluntly asked if the daughter was getting engaged that same day and sure enough, I was correct! After knowing this information, I worked with both her boyfriend and her mom to create the best scenario so he could pop the question. The day came and we started off with an hour of family portraits all throughout the Pearl District in Portland, Oregon. Thankfully the rain held off and it ended up being the perfect opportunity for her boyfriend to get on one knee and pop the question. She we thoroughly surprised! It was such an honor to be apart of the day and see the events unfold. Congrats to Kevin and Candace!
A New Look
Kaela Mey Photography has rebranded!
Thankfully I have a husband that loves to design. After a lot of thought process and time, we worked hard to make the overall brand of my photography business to be exactly what I wanted. Overall the goal was to make it simple and clean. We started with the logo. I am a big fan of geometrics and wanted to incorporate that into the look and feel of my business. We used lines and blacks and whites to help create this. Here is the final image:
Once we achieved the logo, we made sure everything else we put together for the business would reflect our overall goal. From the website to my business cards to the final package, everything stays consistent.
Lastly, from the moment you make your first contact whether that is in person or on the website to when you get your final product in hand, I want you to make sure you as a client understand that I want to give you the best when capturing your life moments. My images are all about being simple and natural. I look forward to working with you some day! - Kaela
The Loud Family
With a chance of rain in the forecast, it didn't stop the Loud Family from utilizing the weekend for a family photoshoot. We lucked out and got a dry day along with fog. It made for the perfect fall setting for this shoot.
